Sick Burn, Yo???

Alright, I don't have a picture for this post, which I realize makes it much less exciting. But what in the world picture goes with "Sick Burn, Yo?" This was a comment left on the blog last week in response to Landon's response to the suggestion that I was pregnant (Uh, did what I just write make any sense???). When I first read this comment....I had no idea what this meant. Does anyone else know what this means? It seems like 3 words that have nothing to do with each other and do not go together. Krista's fiance, Matt, left this comment - and since he is very smart - and younger than me, I figured it was something witty I just did not understand. So, I talked to Krista yesterday, and they told me what it meant. It means...like...yeah, Landon's response to that comment was really good. Like a punch in the stomach or something. I think. I just wondered if this is common verbiage for all others and just not for me - recall, I did not know about "chill-axin" but thought that was crazy funny. Now, I must try to incorporate "Sick Burn, Yo" into my vocabulary. Not sure how that's going to go.

How was Memorial day weekend? Landon and I stopped at Chick-Fil-A yesterday, and they had a sign on their door with their special "Labor Day Hours"....uh, it was not Labor Day. We went home for the weekend, so we are tired today after driving back yesterday.

Peace Out, Homies (do you think this is how to spell homies? Just trying to be cool after using "Sick Burn, Yo")

Thank you, Matt, for introducing me to new phrases :)

Birthday Bash

Yesterday was my friend (and co-worker) Bonnie's birthday. She turned 60! I do not know if she appreciates me sharing this with the entire blogging world, but she probably doesn't care since she doesn't know my peeps who read this :) When she came to work yesterday, I noticed something different about her - first a smell, and then HER HAIR! She sprayed gray color hair spray on her hair for the day! It was crazy! And, it smelled really crazy - not bad, just stifling (like stifling is not bad...). She had a princess crown to wear and a special necklace. We went to lunch for her special day at On the Border (not my favorite, but okay), and we had almost 30 people from our office there - we were able to sit out on the patio, and it was beautiful! AND, we all thought we were going to have to pay $7 per person, but then, Russ (Bonnie's boss and our CEO) paid for our lunch! After returning from lunch, we had carrot cake (homemade by me), red velvet cake (homemade by Malissa), and brownies. Malissa made one set of brownies (with nuts), and I made one set without nuts - but they were disgusting. I bought the family style, by accident, which I thought was going to be a good thing since hello, we have a lot of people here at work. Alas, something went wrong - how something can wrong with brownies out of a box, I cannot tell you. But, they were basically like bricks. They only smelled a little burned so I did put them out, but I encouraged people NOT to take them - I have made pretty decent desserts for work, and I don't want to get a bad reputation for bringing sick food. Anyway, the whole office gave her a gift card for a vacation she's taking with her daughter soon. HAPPY BIRTHDAY BONNIE!

(Bethany, Bonnie, and Malissa at CAKE time!)
One more update, on my sickness. Thank you, Clifton, for suggesting I was pregnant - I am NOT. I could see how you might have thought that, but mainly, I am just a complainer type personality. I am feeling better, but still, if I eat a lot at once, I feel pretty disgusting. After eating On the Border yesterday for lunch and then eating the desserts we had, I did not eat again for the rest of the day - and I felt gross.
On yeah, another update on Lan. Lan was gone last night for the SEC baseball championship games with his dad in Alabama. I have to tell these things after the fact in case a killer is reading this and would have come into our house last night and gotten me (I'm not joking, people). I did so great last night!! I went to bed at 9:50pm and went to sleep - I mean, I was a little jumpy, but the night was a success! I forgot to start the dishwasher, which I like to do when Landon's gone, and then I was mad because of it, but I was already locked in my room so I couldn't come out again - or I'd have to check things again! I do have routines that I do when he's gone, and they help me feel safe (because I'm OCD) - like locking the bedroom door and putting a pillow in front of it so I can't see out the crack at the bottom. I'll be glad to see my husband today - back where he belongs - but I'm glad he could get away and have fun for a little bit.

Welcome To My World!

Yikes...ROUGH NIGHT, HUH? I had a TERRIBLE night last night. I had a headache when it was time for bed, so I took two Excedrin. Well, even though sometimes Excedrin makes me stay awake because of the caffeine, I thought it would be worth it. IT WASN'T. I could not sleep. Well, at first that was nice because Landon and I were chatting for a long time, and I like to talk to him at night. But then, he went to sleep, I still couldn't...and then...I started to feel sick. And then, it went downhill from there. I was sick from about 1am to about 4:30am. By then, I could see there was no way I could make it to work on time - and could definitely not ride with my carpool. After making the appropriate "I'm sick and won't be going in" calls at 5:30am, I finally was able to fall asleep after NOT SLEEPING ALL NIGHT!!! I slept until 9:30am (when I received a very important phone call from work - NOT) and woke up. I felt decent, so I decided to get ready for work. Well, I've made it through the day! And, I chose the worst day to be sick!!! My HR team went out to breakfast this morning at a great restaurant and I did not even get to go. What a dumb day to be sick! So, I've had 3.5 hours of sleep, am not feeling sick anymore (for the most part) and am ready to take it easy. I'm not sure what in the world happened - Landon and I both ate the same things yesterday...but I did eat some weird and random stuff. This is not a good way to start out the week. A lot is on my mind...but still...what in the world? This picture is a great self portrait of what I felt like this morning...and still feel like now!

Coffee Anyone?

I wish I could drink coffee every day of my life....sort of. I ride in a carpool, and almost every morning, we stop for coffee. We usually stop at Dunkin Donuts (because it's cheaper) rather than Starbucks. I don't get anything most of the time, but I have my carpool ladies' order down. The speaker says, "Welcome to Dunkin Donuts. How can I help you?"

I say, "Yes, I would like two medium hazelnut iced coffees, with cream and one splenda, and that's all."

This is the normal routine every day. Somehow, these ladies have cash almost every single day. It's a good thing I do not participate in this coffee buying every morning since I never carry any cash. Anytime I want to get something to drink, we have to go inside rather than going through the drive through. I probably get something once every two weeks or so. I always get a medium hot coffee, french vanilla, with cream and sugar. I have to get a medium because if you get a small, they put this really dumb flimsy top on the cup - but if you get a medium, you get the serious top that has the fold back piece - it's a lot more substantial and worth the extra money to me. I do not get the coffee every day mainly because I have problems with the caffeine making my heart palpitate. Yesterday, when I got coffee, I brought my blood pressure medicine to work with me so I could be ready to take it :) But, you know, if you work, and especially if you have to go to work at 7am, like me, there is something about holding that styrofoam cup of goodness in your hand as you begin going through emails and starting your day.

Landon is off today and is having breakfast at Cracker Barrel with a good friend and lunch with someone too! I will be working... :) But, tomorrow's Friday!!! And then...the weekend!

My Momma!

Happy Mother's Day!!!
I love my momma! I meant to do this yesterday but didn't have time! Happy Mother's Day to all moms :)
We weren't able to be home this year for Mother's Day to be with our moms, but we miss both of our moms and love them very much!!!
One of my favorite things about my momma is knowing she loves me for ME. I remember when we went to do a high ropes course one time and had to climb up a totem pole and then jump way up high in the air for the trapeze bar. When it was my turn, I was so afraid - I am no risk taker, you know. Well, I got near the top of the pole and was too afraid to go to the top. People were yelling at me to do it, just do it, and then here's my mom's voice, "It's okay; you can get down! Just get down!!!" She is like the greatest supporter I could ever imagine having - she loves who I love and is interested in what I'm interested in. And, I know she prays for me. She's somebody who if I ask her to pray for something - or if she tells me she's praying for something - I KNOW she is. There's no doubt in my mind. I also love the example of a wife she's been to me with daddy. I never doubt her love and support and complete loyalty to him - I know they are a team, and that's a really awesome example to have. THANKS MOMMA - I LOVE YOU!!!!!

Long Update

Even though I just started writing this update, I'm sure it will be long since I haven't written in about a week now! We had a great time on vacation, but I'm always torn to come back. On one hand, vacation is great, and who doesn't like to sit and read Nicholas Sparks books on the beach or take naps on the couch in the middle of the afternoon? On the other hand, there is something about a routine that you cannot beat. I love routines. I love knowing what will happen each weeknight, what we're doing, when we'll go to bed, etc. I don't know why - part of my OCD, I guess, but I really miss this when we're on vacation, and by the time we come home, I'm starting to feel wacked out because of no routine. Routines make me feel safe.

We did have a great time on vacation though. We did tons of stuff - went to the alligator farm, went to Disney, spent time at the beach, took our trolley tours, watched Tiger Woods like 5 feet from us practicing for the golf thing, etc., etc., etc. We did lots of stuff - and rested, too. Here are some pictures:

Me feeding fish at Santa Maria...

Landon reading his Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers "textbook" (it was so crazy thick and big like a textbook!):
Tiger Woods...up close and personal at Sawgrass practicing for the TPC (yikes, I hope I said that right!)...and ya'll, I will say more later about how I had to get up at 5:45 am that morning to go with Landon to this golf course - then they wouldn't let me bring in my purse (which ended up being good) and then I had worn flip flops and then I had to traipse all over kingdom come to find Tiger and then we had to hurry and follow him everywhere - I had mud all over the backs of my logs and my flip flops are discolored from all the dew/sprinkler situations that morning. But, if was fun...so I'm glad we went :)...

Our lovely accommodations for the week....no luxury hotel, but hey, right on the beach - it was great...

Me the first night at dinner - we had the greatest seat...you'll see in the next picture, right on the intercoastal waterway - Malissa, I thought of you because we sat outside to eat so much! Our first night of MANY nights of eating shrimp - I cannot look at shrimp for a long while!

Oh! Lan at the alligator farm - this was such a cool place!

Back from the Vaca!

We're back! I'll post pictures and tell about our trip SOON!!!
